Tuscany Wedding Photography

FROM STROLLS IN SUNFLOWER FIELDS OR THE OLIVE GROVES AS THE SUN GOES DOWN- THE LIGHT IN TUSCANY IS AMAZING!
Tuscany is one of my favourite places to photograph. The light is so soft and mix that with the stunning locations to photograph and Tuscany is the perfect background for wedding photography. I work with local wedding planners across Tuscany in some amazing villas and cathedrals in beautiful walled towns. The rolling hills of Tuscany are best seen as the sun drops lower in the sky, as a photographer we call that the Golden Hour. We will use this light to get your portraits together as you walk through a sun flower field, or in an olive grove with the light seeping through the trees.
Your wedding will be something your friends and family will remember for ever, from sunny days drinking prosecco, the setting of your wedding day or the pool party after the wedding. I can be there to capture all the moments of your day and together we will create a stunning photo album for you to keep forever.

Destination wedding photography in Tuscany

I have extensive experience working as a destination wedding working throughout the world but in particular across Tuscany at various wedding villas. I love my Italy wedding photography and have a base there which is perfectly located for working at other regions for my Lake Como weddings, Lake Garda wedding photography, Amalfi weddings and weddings in Puglia.
I am priveledged to be a Tuscany wedding photographer, the Tuscany region has some of my favourite architecture and a relaxed approach to life. The rolling hills of Tuscany give a diverse landscape that is the perfect backdrop for any wedding photo. I am always happiest in an olive grove at sunset getting some magical golden hour photos for the wedding couple to treasure forever.

So if you are planning your wedding in Tuscany, what are the main things to consider? Here are some thoughts and ideas that I have put together over many years of being a Tuscany wedding photographer.

Finding a wedding planner that can help guide you through the wedding process and legalities can take away a lot of stress for you. A lot of wedding venues in Tuscany have a planner linked to their venue to help you with the planning, or some people choose to start with a planner then look for a venue. Either way I would always recommend building a bespoke package around your requirements and a wedding planner will guide you through that process.

Borgo di Castelvecchio
A stunning medival hamlet set in the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia is one of my personal favourite Tuscany wedding venues. With the options to get married amongst the olive groves or by the pool you have plenty of on site accommodation and a stunning outdoor area to eat and dance the night away.
VILLA BARONCINO
A spacious wedding venue set in large gardens close to the Tuscany and Umbria border. With multiple swimming pools, cyprus treelined driveway and its own olive groves and vineyard Villa Baroncino gives multiple photo opportunities and personalised wedding management with on site wedding planners.

VILLA SAN CRISPOLTO
A former chapel perched on top of a hill overlooking Lake Trasmimeno on the Tuscany border with Umbria. It is all about the sunsets at Villa Baroncino, the light at golden hour is outstanding and creates some magical wedding photography.
Tenuta di Artimino
This stunning wedding venue is set in the heart of Tuscany near Florence. It has options to get married by the pool or you can enter via the magnificent steps down to the front lawns with panoramic views over the Unesco Heritage Site.

Wedding Photography in Tuscany
The possibilities for your wedding in Tuscany are truly endless. Whilst many people now choose to have a civil ceremony and get married within the villa grounds you can still have a more formal ceremony in a local Town Hall or a local Cathedral. The cathedrals in Tuscany are stunning buildings, often very impressive commanding buildings overlooking the local town. The Town Hall buildings can be equally imposing buildings, steeped in history and the central buildings of importance to the locals. Your wedding planner will guide you through the options and the legalities for each venue.
Remember the temperature in Tuscany during the summer can get very hot! It is quite common to have your wedding ceremony much later in the afternoon to escape the high summer temperatures. Consideration must be given to weddings from June through to September as to how hot it can get in the sun.

I always suggest working back from the sunset time to take into account time for drinks by the pool then to give you a suggested ceremony time. It is quite normal for wedding ceremonies to take place between 4pm and 6pm to escape the heat of the day. This can feel strange for some, but your day just rolls into the evening and you can party through the night!
So let’s talk about the party- I truly believe that Tuscany weddings have some of the best wedding parties ever! I work with many couples who come from all over the world to Tuscany for their wedding. I do think that if their friends and family are prepared to travel long distances for the wedding they are truly engaged in having the best time ever. People are in a holiday mood to start with so once they have seen the wedding ceremony and had some amazing Tuscan food they want to party. It is quite common for ties to end up on heads and some cool moves on the dance floor into the early hours.
