Town Head Estate Wedding

Town Head Estate wedding photographer

Working as a Lake District wedding photographer I love photographing a Town Head Estate wedding.

Nestled on the south-eastern shores of Lake Windermere within the world-renowned Lake District National Park sits Town Head Estate.  Arguably the most beautiful location in England and certainly the most romantic, Town Head Estate offers the most breathtakingly beautiful location for a wedding.  Its rich history boasts John Ruskin and Beatrix Potter among its past visitors.

When I capture Town Head Estate wedding photography, my day usual starts in the bridal cottage.  Formerly the housekeeper’s cottage it has been given a complete makeover with chandeliers, sumptuous wallpaper, a freestanding copper bath and a cosy log burner.  It even has its own secret hot tub in the garden.  With all this on offer it’s a wonder the bridal party’s make it to the weddings!

And as if that’s not enough, it has its own access to a bridal beauty suite.   Town Head Estate brides get to start their day in unabashed luxury in the purpose-built bridal preparations and beauty suite.  With tons of light and space, beauty stations, huge mirrors, comfy sofas and a chiller for the champagne, it has everything you need for you and your bridal party.  It even has its own courtyard.  And is spacious enough to accommodate the entire bridal party, your make-up artist, hairstylist and even this unobtrusive Lake District wedding photographer, there to capture those all-important morning of the wedding images.

For wedding ceremonies, they offer their newly renovated wedding barn.  It has exposed stone walls and beautiful oak beams. Set over two floors, the bottom floor has a stylish bar and separate lounge area.  And the upper floor is a beautiful open plan space that is flooded with natural light.  Perfect for wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions.  The renovation enabled the team at Town Head Estate to fit it with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems and full underfloor heating.  Discretely offering every modern comfort without compromising on its period charm.  The barn can seat up to 120 guests for a wedding ceremony and sit-down reception meal.

After your ceremony, you can throw open the barn doors and step out onto their elegant terrace.  A grand staircase leads down to beautifully landscaped gardens complete with a bandstand.  A wonderfully quirky feature outside is a traditional ‘long drop’ outside WC (I had to look it up and can confirm that it is precisely what it sounds like!) has been cleverly converted into a cocktail and gin bar, with decking overlooking the gardens.  Many couples who marry at Team Head Estate, choose to use it to have a cocktail hour after the wedding breakfast, to kick start the party!

Outdoor weddings are popular at Town Head Estate and they offer a whopping seven different outdoor locations.  The garden, the terrace, the beach, the croquet lawn, the park, the kitchen garden and the tree circle.  You just add seating to suit the styling of your wedding whether that’s haybales, rustic benches or elegantly dressed chairs then add your own décor of flowers, candles, balloons.  Whatever works with your vision of your day.

Alternatively, you can choose to get married at their gorgeous Victorian boathouse and jetty.  Inside the boathouse 30 guests can be seated so it’s ideal for small intimate weddings with a wonderfully atmospheric and cosy vibe.

The recent addition of a jetty not only gives great photo opportunities but also opens up the possibility of you arriving by boat.  Or incorporating a cruise for your guests as part of your celebrations.

When I capture Town Head Estate wedding photography, I like to whisk my couples away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot around the grounds and gardens of the estate.  And the team at Town House Estate always take us in their handy golf buggy!  The beautiful walled garden, bandstand and Victorian glasshouse all make beautiful backdrops in my images.  We also head down to the water front to get some romantic sunset images on the shores of Lake Windermere.

When it comes to food, Town Head Estate work with local caterers Karen Rhodes Caterers, who create bespoke wedding menus for each and every wedding.  Whether it’s elegant canapes, fine dining or tasty evening street food.  This experienced family team will ensure that the food at your wedding always impresses.

For guest accommodation, Town Head Estate can accommodate the entire wedding party as it can host up to 22 guests.  Accommodation is spread over the main house, Barn Cottage, Farm Cottage and the Bridal Cottage.  Town Head Estate pride themselves on being a destination wedding venue, so accommodation is booked for a 2-night break.
